Port Washington Historical Society (PWHS) Resource Center was founded in 2000 to assist researchers, historians, and genealogists.  The Resource Center is operated as a reference library / archives that is open to the public.  It is staffed by Volunteer Assistants.

Scope of the Collection

The PWHS Resource Center collection includes archival materials from the following locales in Northern Ozaukee County:

  • City of Port Washington
  • Town of Port Washington
  • Town of Belgium
  • Town of Fredonia
  • Town of Grafton
  • Town of Saukville
  • Communities within these townships : Belgium, Dacada, Fredonia, Waubeka, Saukville, Lake Church, Newburg, Holy Cross, Knellsville, St. Finbar.

How you can help preserve our heritage:

  • Monetary Donations

              Monetary donations are greatly appreciated as they help off-set the cost of our Resource Center and the invaluable work of preserving the history of the Port Washington area. These donations are tax deductible.

  • Archival Donations

              Our collection keeps growing thanks to generous individuals who donate copies of family histories, genealogies, family group sheets, photographs, obituaries, news clippings, etc. We also appreciate copying items from your collection. Items to be copied will be handled carefully and returned to you promptly.

  • Volunteer

         We are always in need of Volunteers to serve as Research Volunteers, to assist with research, filing and office tasks. Please contact us if you are interested or for more information. Training will be provided.
